Pirate Party |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
AVAST! Pirates are all the rage this year. You too can have a fun and memorable pirate themed party. Hold this party at the beach with your guest of honor arriving in a pirate decorated ship, or turn a rental facility into an island setting complete with pirate ship. Play pirate tunes and movies in the background. Staff can wear pirate and wench attire. Have pirates sign a pirate flag and leave their weapons at the door, we want to send everyone home alive! Always keep to the code ... the pirate code. |
Ideas for inspiration: Pirates, wenches, ships, buried treasure, ships wheel, skull and crossbones, pirate hat, eye patch, pantaloons and vest, boots, gold teeth, peg leg, shipwreck, sails and mast, tavern, cutthroats, grog, maidenhead, treasure map, torches, parrot, anchor, island, booty, doubloons, jewels, daggers, pistols and swords, walk the plank, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. Watch pirate movies for more ideas. |
Invitations: Deliver a message in a bottle invitation, or treasure maps tied with fabric are always a nice idea. You could make a folded paper treasure chest, with party information on the inside, insert gold wrapped chocolate coins. |
Decorations: Place a pirate flag or banner and black balloons out front. Inside place; ships wheels, fish netting, telescope, shells, and lots of treasure including gold doubloons, jewelry, fine fabrics, statuary, you name it and paint it gold! Place lanterns and candles around for lighting, but in a safe place. Make a treasure chest centerpiece with an old trunk and fabrics overflowing with gold coins and jewelry. |
Refreshments: Turkey or chicken drumsticks served on large platters with fruit and bread, no utensils allowed! Serve seaweed pasta (green linguine), golden nuggets (chicken nuggets), pirates teeth (corn) or swords (breadsticks). Vegetable platters can be created to resemble an island setting, fish shaped crackers could be in the dipping ocean. Red sharks blood punch could be served with or without alcohol or grog in the form of root (or real) beer. Food can be served in coconuts, melons, on large silver platters by wenches or on rough wood tables. |
Activities: As guests arrive they can play coconut bowling- roll a coconut down the sidewalk to see how many bowling pins (or other item) they can knock down. Have guests "walk the plank" to gain entrance to the party. Guests can dig for treasure on the beach (sandbox). Have a scavenger hunt with items either at the party location or in the community. Play splat the eyeball (squishy eyeball toy) on the pirate (pirate face drawn on poster board). Hold a pirate trivia game to see whom is the most knowledgeable pirate. Liars dice makes a great pirate game. |
Gifts, Favors, Prizes, etc.: Mardi Gras type beads, pirate stuff, rum, tiki torches, chocolate coins. For adults; rum, food items, coconut bra, gift certificate to local seafood restaurant, skull and crossbones air freshener. After the party, send a pirate proclamation that congratulates guests for surviving and declares them pirates, include photos of the event and it's activity participants. The guest of honor gets to keep the pirate sign-in as their memento. |
Other ideas: Many of these party ideas can also be used for luau, Gilligan's Island cast away, survivor, island or marooned parties. |
