New Year's Eve Party Ideas

Good Fortune, Time Flies or New Years Around the World, are all possible theme party ideas. Give everyone a them items to wear when they arrive, such as: candy pacifier rings, a black tie, gold necklaces, a watch, items with year 3000, international flag pins, fuzzy dice. Have everyone tell a video cameraperson their resolutions for the year, so you can see if they accomplished them next year.

Ideas for inspiration:
Balloons, baby new year, party blow outs, black tie, toasts, streamers, fortune, time, confetti, champagne, resolutions, future, clock, international, luck, party hats, crowns, glow jewelry, anything black or metallic. 

Invitations:
Baby dolls with invitation attached.
Fortune cookies with party information written in the form of a fortune.
Paper clock faces with party information inside.
World Atlas with party details on each continent, cut them apart so that guests must assemble world like a puzzle.

Set-up & Decorate:
Have a cameraperson near the entrance so guests picture is taken after they receive their party items. . Tables, chairs, a dance floor and or a stage for performers. Don't forget the lighting and music. You may want a television tuned in to New Year's Eve coverage.  Balloon shaped piņatas with pull strings and snappers attached so they pop and drop the goodies at the same time.
Balloons dropped from the ceiling or decorating every surface.
Streamers, glow decor, confetti - sprinkle it everywhere.
Theme decor could include: baby dolls, gambling items, clocks, international flags etc.
 

Food:
Serve plenty of finger foods so that guests can mingle easily. Things like: mini quiche, vegetables and dip, stuffed mushrooms, nuts, flavored popcorn, shrimp cocktail, fruit with fondue, cookies, puff pastries.
Serve sparkling water or champagne at midnight.
Serving breakfast is a good idea especially if there has been a lot of alcohol served.


Activities:
Countdown activities can be held every hour. Place party items such as hats and bowties in containers and have guests open and distribute them. Also place items for party activities and have guests run them.
Play games such as Guess Who? Gather a list of things people have done, seen, been etc. and see which guests know the most about everyone.
Resolutions are a part of the new year. Make a game out of it and have guests write down three resolutions on a slip of paper. See who can guess who's they are.
Have a contest to see who can make the best toast.
Make time capsules.
Have a Karaoke singing contest.
Hire a fortune teller or a DJ.
Play games of chance.

Gifts, Favors, Prizes, etc.:
Champagne, wine glass and bottle charms, tickets to a local performance. Theme related items such as: a magic eight ball for future party, clocks for time party, a book on gambling and dice for luck. Balloon piņata, baby new year doll, fortune telling cards, fools gold, chocolate coins. Shadow boxes with noisemaker, balloons, confetti inside. Write names on champagne glasses - plastic or glass.  Thank guests for their attendance and let them know how much you enjoyed their company. Send photos of guests with their hat or theme item on to put inside their shadow box.

Other Ideas:
Many of the ideas here can also be used for age related or international themed birthday parties.
