Fathers Day Information

When is it?
Fathers Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June.

Who celebrates it and where?
Anyone who has a Dad.

What is it?
Fathers Day is the celebration of fathers and fatherhood.

Why did it get started?
Spokane was the first city to celebrate Fathers Day in 1910. President Coolidge supported the idea of a Fathers Day in 1924. President Johnson signed a proclamation in 1966 declaring the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. President Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972.

How do people celebrate it?
People give their dads gifts, visit them and gather for family meals.

What are the symbols?
There aren't any specific Fathers Day symbols, except giving gifts and your love and appreciation. 

How can I celebrate it?
You can give your father (or any dad you know)  a card, gift, and or visit him and take him out for dinner. If your father has passed, you can visit his gravesite and leave flowers.
